Springfield Village - Gas Works: Commencing 23 March

Essential Gas Main Upgrade Works (Burntwood Lane / Springfield Drive) – due to commence from the 23 March 2026 for approximately 3 weeks. 

These works are being carried out on behalf of Phoenix Civils and involve essential emergency upgrade works to the existing gas main cathodic protection located within the verge areas along Burntwood Lane and Springfield Drive.

The purpose of these works is to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the local network.

Considerations

• A temporary welfare unit will be located by the pavilion car park.

• Pedestrian access will be maintained for the existing footway throughout the trial excavations with approved track matting systems and crowd barriers.

• The spoil removed from the excavation will be stored within their works with a separate space allocated near the excavation. The spoil will be stored on track matting supplied to protect the existing ground surface.

All dug materials will be reinstated with grass turf, carefully removed & replaced following works.

Red dot: 2x locations of excavating areas, this is by the wildflower in the park adjacent to Burntwood Lane opposite Openview , the other is in the northern park on the tree boundary line adjacent to Burntwood Lane opposite Tilehurst Road.
